    Don Williams to Release First New Album Since 2004 on June 19

    Country Music Hall of Fame member Don Williams will release his first album in eight years on June 19. It’s titled And So It Goes and features guest appearances from Keith Urban, Alison Krauss and Vince Gill. The album follows Don’s return to touring after retiring in 2006.  He says of the new album, “I didn’t do this album because I just felt that I was going to die if I didn’t do another one, but because of all of that encouragement to do it.     The 47th Annual ACM Awards have added more star power. Sara Evans, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban are now slated to perform on the show, airing live on CBS Sunday, April 1 at 8 p.m. Eastern time. 2 Broke Girls star Beth Behrs and Entertainment Tonight host Nancy O’Dell have also been added as presenters. The performance lineup already includes Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Lady Antebellum, The Band Perry, Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Miranda Lambert and more.     (SANFORD, Fla.) — The U.S. Attorney in Central Florida and officials from the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division will be meeting with Trayvon Martin’s family in Florida Thursday as they investigate the death of the 17-year-old.     SANFORD–Local spellers are gearing up for the 13th annual beginning Life with Books Spelling B sponsored by local women educators of Delta Rho Chapter of the Delta kappa Gamma Society International.  Proceeds from team entry fees and audience donations are used to purchase copies of the children’s classic GOODNIGHT MOON so that every baby born at  Central Carolina Hospital receives one.  Admission is free to spectators invited to bring along a gently used children’s book for the Book Buddy Program sponsored by Communities in Schools.  The period for registration and refreshments is 6-7 P.M.  the Bee begins at 7 P.M. and by […]

  • Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce will provide transportation to next week’s fracking hearing

    SANFORD–Chamber President Bob Joyce says many questions were raised at Tuesday’s public hearing, but feels there is much more to be discussed.  A second hearing is scheduled March 27 in Chapel Hill and the Chamber is providing a bus to transport Lee County residents interested in attending.  Joyce said the meeting will provide us another opportunity to have our voices heard on this key issue.  The bus will depart  Sanford at 4 P.M. and will return by 10 P.M.  A meal will be provided.  If you are interested in securing a seat on the bus, call the chamber office at 919-775-7341.
