    Death Toll Grows in Midwest Tornado Aftermath

    (WASHINGTON) — The death toll left by 15 tornadoes that blew through the Midwest overnight stands at at least nine, according to authorities, and that number is expected to rise. The extensive damage caused by the storms in at least five states is only beginning to become clear. Meanwhile, more tornado watches are in effect in Kentucky and Tennessee, according to the National Weather Service. The tornadoes touched down across Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri and Nebraska on Tuesday night, the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center said. Copyright 2012 ABC News Radio

  • Two injured in car-truck collision

    SANFORD- Two persons were injured, one seriously, in a two vehicle accident involving a pick-up and a Honda passenger vehicle Wednesday afternoon at Charlotte Avenue and Third Street.  One of the victims appeared to have been ejected from one of the vehicles and was lying in the roadway.  The other passenger, identified as a 70 year old male, complained of chest pains and was transported to Central Carolina Hospital for treatment.  After difficulty in getting Air Care to come to the site because of weather related issues, Wake Med agreed to come to Central Carolina Hospital and transport the passenger, however, that trip […]
