    (WASHINGTON) — A woman who claims the Transportation Security Administration detained her from her flight because the agent didn’t like her attitude has posted a video of the confrontation on YouTube.     (CHICAGO) — Three-hundred and fifty thousand kids in Chicago get the day off today as the city and the teachers union try to get on the same page in order to keep the first public school strike in a quarter century from extending much longer.   • Time is running out for teachers to apply for a Bright Ideas grant

    SANFORD–Teachers in Lee, Moore, Harnett and Chatham Counties have until September 21 to apply for a Bright Ideas grant from Central Electric Membership Corporation.  The grants, up to $2,000, are to be used to fund creative, classroom based projects.   • A well known Sanford businessman will be laid to rest Monday

    SANFORD–Funeral for 70 year old Mitchel Jackson, who died early Friday morning at Moore Regional Hospital is scheduled for 11 am Monday at White Hill Presbyterian Church with Dr. Rudy Holland and Pastor Craig Dodson officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.   • A Moore County woman charged with murder has been brought back for trial

    CARTHAGE–Melissa Rovnak has been returned to Moore County to stand trial for the 2002 shooting death of her husband, a murder first thought to be suicide.  Rovnak was living in West Virginia when officers determined that the death was a homicide.  She is being held in the Moore County Detention Center  without privilege of bail.
