Host, The Swap Shop
John Mann started as host The Swap Shop on WWGP AM1050 in Sanford, North Carolina on January 5th, 2015.
John is a 1992 graduate of Western Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radio and Television. John held several jobs working in the radio industry after graduation, these included working at WCRY in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, and WDAI in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Later he went on to work with Core Call Out Research in Los Angeles, California, managing the call center for one of the nation’s most respected radio music research companies. He worked with Traffic Patrol Broadcasting reporting traffic conditions while flying high above the Triangle area in Grumman Cheetah.
In 2001, John left radio to take an opportunity with North Carolina State University where he spent the next 10 years. As Associate Director of Annual Giving he directed the call center for the state’s largest university. Also, he managed the young alumni, recent graduate, 50th reunion, and senior class giving programs for the university.
Returning to radio in 2011, John accepted a position with Curtis Media Group to broadcast traffic and news reports for WPTF and the North Carolina News Network. He left Curtis Media to take on the hosting responsibilities for the Swap Shop.
John says that “I am honored and privileged to host a show of the stature of the Swap Shop; it is Lee County’s morning show. I am doing what I love, what could be better?”
