More Secret Service Agents Fall in Colombia Scandal

(WASHINGTON) — The Secret Service will announce Tuesday night that two more agents are resigning under pressure as a result of the Cartagena, Colombia, prostitute scandal, and that the process has begun for a third employee to leave, ABC News has learned. Two others have been cleared. Six Secret Service employees, including two supervisors, have already been forced out of the agency as a result of an investigation into a night of partying in Cartagena before President Obama’s arrival, in which they allegedly drank heavily and mingled with prostitutes. The Secret Service had said 12 employees were being investigated, and […]

Clemens’ Defense Dismisses Key Prosecution Witness Testimony

(WASHINGTON) — The lawyer for Roger Clemens ripped into the evidence against him today as a “hodgepodge of garbage” and said key prosecution witness Brian NcNamee was a liar. Clemens’ lawyer Rusty Hardin ridiculed charges in his opening statement that the retired pitching ace lied to Congress about the use of steroids and human growth hormones. “What guy would go to Congress and lie under oath knowing what the consequences would be?” Hardin said. Hardin told the jury of 10 women and 6 men (there are 4 alternates) the case was focused on Clemens because his client “Dared to deny […]

Steven Powell Loses Bid to Toss Child Porn Evidence

(WASHINGTON) — A bid by Steven Powell to have evidence of child pornography and voyeurism dropped was denied Tuesday by a Washington court. The father of Josh Powell and father-in-law of missing Utah mom Susan Cox Powell appeared in court, sitting just feet away from Susan Powell’s parents, seeking to have the evidence against him ruled inadmissible. He argued that the 2011 search of his home, in which investigators seized dozens of video tapes and CDs containing thousands of images of naked young girls and women, was an illegal search. Judge Ronald Culpepper, however, disagreed. He ruled that police rightfully […]

Police wrapped up their search early Tuesday morning after serving their final search warrant on the home around 1:30 a.m., Sgt. Marco Borboa of the Tucson police department said Tuesday. Investigators had previously found the girl’s bedroom window opened and the screen removed while searching the home this weekend, and FBI-trained dogs “hit upon” something during one of the searches. Celis was reported missing […]

NY Jury to See Video of Man Posing as Dead Mom

(NEW YORK) — Jurors in a New York court will see surveillance footage Tuesday of a man who allegedly dressed up as his dead mother for six years to cash her Social Security checks, even going as far as visiting the DMV for a new license in the get-up. Thomas Prusik-Parkin is accused of collecting more than $115,000 on his mother Irene Prusik’s government benefits and rent subsidies for six years following her death in 2003. In what the Brooklyn district attorney’s office called an “elaborate fraud,” Prusik-Parkin and an accomplice allegedly appropriated Social Security benefits, social service payments and […]

(NEW YORK) — The director of a film about young Cubans defecting would like to know that her real-life missing stars — who may have defected en route to the premiere — are safe. Two of the stars of writer-director Lucy Mulloy’s film Una Noche vanished in Miami as the group was making their way to New York from Cuba for the film’s premiere. “Though they’ve made difficult choices about what to do at present, I wish them the very best in all their endeavours and I hope I will get to see them again soon,” Mulloy said in a […]

(NEW YORK) — The father of Lily, Sarah and Grace Badger, the three girls who died last year in a Christmas Day fire in their Connecticut home, has spoken publicly for the first time of his grief, his daughters and his glimmers of something positive coming from their deaths by drawing attention to a new fund he has launched in their memory. The nation awoke to the news on Dec. 25 that three young girls had been killed along with their grandparents in their Stamford home. Investigators say hot fireplace embers — cleaned out of the fireplace because the girls […]
