    Colorado Wildfire Claims One Life, Destroys Nearly 350 Homes

    (COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.) — The wildfire raging near Colorado Springs, Colo., has claimed one life and at least 347 homes, officials announced on Thursday. At a late night news conference, Colorado Springs Police Chief Peter Carey said the remains of one human being were discovered at a residence that was destroyed by flames in the Mountain Shadows subdivision.  Another person from the same address is missing, he said.     (LAS VEGAS) — Valerie Nabors gave birth to her fourth child, a healthy baby girl, last October, but within 10 minutes of delivery, she charges, her ankles were shackled to her hospital bed and she was not allowed to walk. Nabors, a prison inmate at the time, complains her legs were shackled during labor, much to doctors’ dismay, and against Nevada state law. Nabors filed a lawsuit on June 20 against the Nevada Department of Corrections claiming cruel and unusual punishment.     (NEW YORK) — One passenger has defended the flight attendant who lashed out at complaining passengers on a long-delayed flight from New York’s LaGuardia Airport, although other passengers say they feared his behavior and worried about flying with him.     Army Battalion Commander Killed in Fort Bragg Shooting

    (FORT BRAGG, N.C.) — A U.S. Army battalion commander was killed by a fellow soldier on Thursday in a shooting incident at Fort Bragg, N.C.  The alleged gunman then shot himself and is in custody; a third soldier was slightly injured in the shooting.
