Home / Music News / Eric Church is ready to Double Down on tour, but he’s not planning to repeat himself

If you want to hear all your Eric Church favorites on his Double Down Tour, you’ll need to plan to go to both of his shows in your town.

For his 2019 trek, Eric’s repeating what he did two years ago: foregoing an opening act in favor of playing a longer show himself. The tour’s name hints at this year’s noticeable difference: Eric’s playing two nights in each city, and he’s not planning on much duplication between the two concerts.

“Some people may be surprised to learn that there’s only about five songs from our back catalog that are gonna be [performed on] both nights,” the North Carolina native reveals. “I’m going to play most of the Desperate Man album over the two nights, probably six a night for those.”

“We’re gonna play ‘Smoke a Little Smoke’ one night,” he continues, “but you won’t get it the next. You’re gonna get ‘Drink in My Hand’ the next, but you won’t get it the first one.”

Eric’s first stop on tour is Friday night in Omaha, Nebraska.

“We’re gonna make this a little bit where there’ll be those [recognizable] songs in there, but they won’t be both nights unless you go to both nights,” he explains. “It’s just the way we’re gonna do it.”

“I think our catalog will let us do it,” Eric adds. “If you come, you’re gonna hear ‘Sinners Like Me’ one night, but not both nights. And I think that it’ll make it interesting for the people that are coming, and it’ll make the show fun for us.”

The only city where Eric isn’t playing two nights is Nashville. Instead, he’ll do a May 25 stadium date at the home of the Tennessee Titans.
