(NEW YORK) — A gunman opened fire at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in the Bronx, New York, on Friday, killing one and injuring several others.

The suspect, who took his own life, was identified as Henry Bello, a former doctor at the hospital, police sources told ABC News. Sources said he was armed with a rifle.

In addition to the one victim who was killed, five to six other victims were injured in the incident, sources said. Their conditions were not immediately clear.

Police are going floor by floor to clear the hospital, but investigators believe this was likely a targeted act of workplace violence, sources said.

New York ABC station WABC-TV reported a heavy police presence outside the hospital in the wake of the shooting incident.

Local agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF, are responding to the scene as well.
