(BOSTON) — An Orlando-bound British Airways flight was diverted to Boston’s Logan International Airport Thursday afternoon after a passenger became unruly, officials said.

British Airways flight 2039 — which originated at London’s Gatwick Airport — was diverted at approximately 4:15 p.m because of the “unruly” passenger, Massachusetts State Police said.

The individual was removed from the Boeing 777-200 aircraft by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Massachusetts State Police.

“Customs and Border Protection took custody of the 24-year-old man from Glasgow, Scotland,” Massachusetts State Police said in a statement. “Massachusetts State Police will be summonsing the man for interfering with a flight crew.”

According to audio captured by LiveATC.net, the pilot told air traffic controllers that the individual was intoxicated.

British Airways said in a statement, “Our customers and crews deserve to enjoy their flights, and not to suffer any form of abuse. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated, and the appropriate action will always be taken. We’d like to apologize for the delay to the other customers on the flight.”

According to FlightAware.com, the flight continued to Orlando International Airport, departing Boston at 6:13 p.m.
