(NEW YORK) — A New York City police officer shot a man dead in Midtown Manhattan Wednesday morning.

The suspect, who has not been identified, appeared to have a knife and had attempted to attack people including a police officer, according to police.

Up to three people sustained injuries from the knife attacks but none were life threatening.

The shooting took place in front of a Food Emporium grocery story on 8th Avenue between 49th and 50th Streets, just a few blocks away from Times Square.
