If you’ve had the chance to see Chris Janson in concert, you know the “Buy Me a Boat” hitmaker is also a virtuoso on the harmonica. What most of us didn’t realize, however, is why he plays the harp.
“All my life, I’ve had breathing problems, right through here,” he says, pointing to his upper torso, in a new public service announcement. “By playing this harmonica, I can have fun with music and help my lungs. Now what other instrument can you put in your pocket? I don’t know of one,” he adds. “I keep one with me just about everywhere I go.”
Chris is partnering with the charitable arm of the ACMs, Lifting Lives, and the COPD Foundation to launch the Harmonicas for Health program, to help others with breathing difficulties. You can check out his harp-playing in the new video on YouTube now.
