(DAYTON, Ohio) — The protester arrested at Donald Trump’s rally in Ohio Saturday told authorities he had hoped to run on stage, snatch the microphone and yell, “Donald Trump is a racist,” according to a police report.
After Thomas Dimassimo was taken into custody, he told police he had “preplanned” the incident, the Dayton Police Department report said.
DiMassimo, 22, said he had even given his car keys to his girlfriend before the rally so she could take his car home, according to the report.
DiMassimo told police he “had no intention of hurting anyone,” the police report said.
At the Trump rally Saturday, Dimassimo allegedly hopped over a guardrail and was then grabbed by Secret Service agents before he could reach the stage from which Trump was speaking.
“I was ready for him, but it’s much easier if the cops do it, don’t we agree?” Trump said to the cheering crowd.
Dimassimo was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and inducing panic.
He was released on bail Saturday evening. It was unclear whether he entered a plea or has an attorney.
ABC News was unable to find a telephone number for Dimassimo and calls to the numbers listed for his parents weren’t returned.
