(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) — Lionel Clah, one of two escaped prisoners in New Mexico, was captured by Albuquerque Police on Saturday, a day after the other escapee Joseph Cruz was caught.

Police said Clah, 29, was captured in northeast Albuquerque.

Cruz, 23, was apprehended during a joint law enforcement investigation on Friday and was “taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.”

Both men escaped from a prisoner transport van on Wednesday night in Artesia, New Mexico. Officials are investigating how the two men were able to escape.

According to ABC News affiliate KOAT-TV, Cruz is a convicted murderer and Clah was convicted of shooting and wounding two police officers nearly 10 years ago.
