(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) — Joseph Cruz, one of the two escaped prisoners in New Mexico, was captured in Albuquerque by New Mexico State Police on Friday night.

According to police, the 32-year-old was apprehended during a joint law enforcement investigation and was “taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.”

Cruz and Lionel Clah escaped from a prisoner transport van on Wednesday night in Artesia, New Mexico. Clah, 29, is still on the run.

ABC News affiliate KOAT-TV reported that police said they were searching for Clah near the University of New Mexico and he was possibly in the area.

Residents nearby the campus were told to stay inside, according to KOAT-TV.
