(COLUMBIA, S.C.) — Police are searching for suspects after reports of gunfire at a mall in Columbia, South Carolina on Saturday.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said that shots were fired at Columbiana Centre Mall at 7:10 p.m. ET on Saturday night. When law enforcement arrived and evacuated the mall, they identified the situation as an isolated incident between at least two individuals.
According to the sheriff’s office, there were no injuries or fatalities and suspects fled the scene.
“There was an incident where shots may have been fired and a possible victim, but once law enforcement arrived on the scene, they cleared the area,” Lieutenant Curtis Wilson of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department told ABC News. “Right now we’re actively searching for who may be responsible. Also trying to get information about what took place and what led up to this.”
Wilson told ABC News that despite reports of there being a victim, there was no victim at the scene and no victim reported to the hospital as of Saturday night.
