(BIRMINGHAN, Ala.) — Several structures were destroyed in Birmingham, Alabama after a tornado hit the Tuscaloosa/Jefferson County area on Christmas Day. Rescue workers rushed to free residents who were trapped in debris.
No fatalities were reported, but at least one person was injured. Birmingham Mayor William Bell there were no reports of missing people, but the area was still searched.
Alabama Power tweeted late Friday evening that at least 10,000 customers were without power.
