This weekend, country newcomer Cam will be rubbing elbows with the likes of Boy George, Sharon Osbourne, Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora— and one more person she’s very anxious to see.
“And Cyndi Lauper, I know right?” she squeals. “That is crazy! She seems like she is just like endless energy, so I’m excited to meet her.”
Cam will be playing Cyndi’s fifth annual Home for the Holidays benefit to raise awareness and money for her True Colors Fund. And if there’s one thing Cam is more thrilled about than getting to know the “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” legend– it’s helping her non-profit.
“I’m beyond excited, cause it’s for LGBTQ youth that are homeless because they have come out and their families and stuff won’t take care of them anymore. And homeless youth– I mean just people who are having such a hard time and need support– I feel so honored to be a part of that. I am beyond excited,” Cam says.
The benefit takes place Saturday night at New York City’s historic Beacon Theatre, the weekend before Cam’s debut album Untamed is released on Friday. Her debut single “Burning House” is currently on the verge of going top five. Cyndi has recently spent time in Nashville and has said she intends to release a country album in 2016.
