(MERCED, Calif.) — A stabbing left four people injured at the University of California, Merced campus Wednesday morning.

A male student allegedly stabbed the victims with a nine-inch knife. The stabbings were reportedly started inside a class and office building.

The suspect then reportedly sprinted outside and continued to attack people. Police finally confronted him on a nearby bridge. University police shot the assailant who died at the scene.

According to the university’s Twitter account, two of the victims were taken by helicopter to hospitals for treatment.  The victims included two students, one staff member and one vendor.

All four of the victims are expected to survive.
