(NEW YORK) — The nurse who was detained last year in New Jersey after returning from West Africa over Ebola fears filed a lawsuit against New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and other state officials on Thursday.
Kaci Hickox was returning from Sierra Leone to Maine last year when she was stopped at Newark Airport and held in a field tent at a Newark hospital parking garage despite testing negative. Hickox claims that she was quarantined out of fear and not based on science. “I never had Ebola,” she said Thursday. I never had symptoms of Ebola. I tested negative for Ebola the first night I stayed in New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s private prison,” she added.
The lawsuit was filed in New Jersey federal court claims Hickox was held “unlawfully and unreasonably” without any valid medical basis or legal recourse.
