(SOUTH AMHERST, Ohio) — An Ohio man who authorities say held two firefighters hostage with a rifle has been arrested.
Eight firefighters responded to a report of a fire in a wooded area behind a home Wednesday evening in South Amherst, Ohio, only to find an agitated homeowner brandishing a rife. The resident reportedly took two of the first responders hostage.
The situation ended peacefully about two hours later, and the suspect was arrested.
The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office reports the suspect told them he wasn’t going to hurt the captives; he reportedly insisted he only wanted a beer and his psychiatric medication.
