(LOS ANGELES) — This year’s El Niño is expected to be one of the strongest on record, according to scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmopsheric Administration, who are out Thursday with their latest winter weather outlook.
“This El Niño’s a monster and I guarantee it’s going to deliver,” says climatologist Bill Patzert.
El Niño’s impact is expected to be felt across the U.S., beginning in January. The southern half of the country will likely be wetter and cooler, while the northern half will likely be warmer and drier.
