(WASHINGTON) — President Obama has declared a major disaster in California after the devastating Valley wildfire.
The president has ordered federal aid to the area affected by the wildfire.
In a press release from the White House, “The President’s action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in Lake County. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.”
At least five deaths are attributed to the wildfires, with two people having died in the Butte Fire in the foothills east of Sacramento.
Three other deaths are blamed on the Valley Fire in the Napa area.
