(ORLANDO) — Florida state prosecutor Jeff Ashton, most known for his role in the prosecution of Casey Anthony, admitted on Sunday that he has an account on the cheating website Ashley Madison.
Claiming at a Sunday press conference that he never used the site to meet women, and that he was only curious, Ashton said “while I indulged my curiosity about the site, it never went beyond that.” He says he signed up for the website using his personal credit card about two years ago.
“I deeply regret my affiliation with the site, which has caused a great amount of stress and heartache to my wife and children.” Still, he says, he never used the site on government equipment, instead accessing it only from a personal laptop on a publicly available Wi-Fi network.
Hackers released a list of alleged Ashley Madison clients last month.
