(WILMINGTON, N.C.) — Two people were injured on Tuesday night when a fighter jet on the deck of the USS Harry Truman caught fire.
The plane, an F/A-18C “Hornet” was being refueled when the fire sparked. The pilot ejected from the aircraft and landed on the flight deck. The pilot and a sailor each sustained non-life threatening injuries.
A Navy press release says the pilot received medical attention onboard the ship before being transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center along with the sailor.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
