(CENTENNIAL, Colo.) — Witness testimony came to an end in the James Holmes murder trial on Wednesday, with closing arguments set for Thursday.
The final witness to speak was Ashley Moser, who lost her six-year-old daughter in the shooting. Moser herself cannot walk and suffered a miscarriage after the attack. Jurors were expected to be told to return Thursday afternoon for jury instructions and closing arguments, after which they would begin deliberations.
The judge is expected to allow the jury to begin deliberations Thursday if time allows. Otherwise, deliberation would begin Friday morning.
Holmes has already been found guilty on all 165 counts related to the 2012 shooting that left 12 dead and 70 injured. Earlier this month, the jury decided that it would allow the death penalty to remain an option.
Following closing arguments, the jury will decide whether Holmes should get the death penalty, or whether to sentence him to life in prison.
