(CUTCHOGUE, N.Y.) — A New York Man was arraigned on DWI charges from his hospital bed on Sunday after he allegedly crashed his pickup truck into a limousine on Long Island on Saturday, leaving four women dead.

The limousine, containing a bride and her seven friends, was making a U-turn, ABC affiliate WABC-TV says, when Steven Romeo, 55, crashed his truck into their vehicle. The women had apparently been celebrating a birthday.

Three of the women were found dead inside the limo by medics, and a fourth was pronounced dead at an area hospital. Four other women were taken to area hospitals, and both the limo driver and Romeo suffered injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening.
