(CENTENNIAL, Colo.) — The defense in the James Holmes murder trial rested on Friday, and closing arguments are scheduled for next week.
Holmes, the alleged shooter in the Aurora movie theater shooting that left 12 people dead, has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. After the defense rested its case Friday, the prosecution opted not to put on a rebuttal case.
As such, closing arguments are set to begin on Tuesday, beginning with the prosecution. The defense will then make its closing arguments after a lunch break. The prosecution then gets the final word, and jurors will begin deliberating on Wednesday.
