(CONEY ISLAND, N.Y.) — In New York City, the 4th of July means one thing: Nathan’s annual hot dog-eating contest on Coney Island.
The men’s competition, now in its 99th year, took place Saturday afternoon, when contestants gather on stage to eat as many hot dogs and buns as they can.
Joey Chestnut, who had won the contest for eight consecutive years, lost to rival Matt “Megatoad” Stonie by two hot dogs, 62 to 60.
Miki Sudo won women’s division, wolfing down 38 hot dogs in 10 minutes.
