(WASHINGTON) — Police in Washington, D.C. investigated a suspicious package on Saturday morning, eventually determining that it was not a threat.
U.S. Capitol Police closed down an area on First Street SE, near the National Mall, while they investigated. The D.C. Police Department later cleared the scene and said that all lanes were open.
The investigation was part of heightened security around the Capitol for the July Fourth weekend.
