(MASSENA, N.Y.) — A cruise ship struck a wall in a river lock in the Saint Lawrence Seaway in New York, injuring 17 people, authorities said.
The Saint Laurent cruise ship was carrying 274 passengers and crew members when it hit a wall in the Eisenhower Lock in the Saint Lawrence Seaway in Massena, near the Canadian border, according to a U.S. Coast Guard news release. The incident was reported at 9:45 p.m. Thursday.
Jim Chestnut, supervisor of dispatch operations for St. Lawrence County, told ABC News 17 people were injured, but none is believed to be life-threatening.
The crash is under investigation, the Coast Guard said.
