(BALTIMORE) — Attorneys for the six Baltimore police officers facing charges in the death of Freddie Gray filed a motion on Friday asking for the charges to be dismissed and/or for Maryland state attorney Marilyn Mosby to be recused from the case.
On the day Mosby announced the charges against the six officers, she said that she had “heard” the people of Baltimore and demonstrators around the country “call for ‘no justice, no peace.'” She further added that she would “seek justice on your behalf.”
“This is a moment,” Mosby said that day. “This is your moment.”
The motion to recuse Mosby from the case argues that those statements were “not the first nor only statement revealing the State’s Attorney’s political and personal motivation, betraying, the United States Constitution, the Maryland Declaration fo Rights and the Maryland Rules of Professional Responsibility.”
