(PHOENIX) — A judge is expected make the final decision in the Jodi Arias murder trial on Monday.
Arias was found guilty in May 2013 of murdering her on again-off again boyfriend, Travis Alexander, five years earlier.
The case has yet to come to a close because two juries have been unable to decide whether or not she should receive the death penalty.
All but one holdout on the second jury wanted to give Arias the death penalty, jurors said. However, because a unanimous decision was not reached, the judge now must decide whether she will spend the rest of her life in prison or if she will have the possibility for parole after 25 years.
Arias took the stand for a marathon 18 days in the first trial, which turned into a national spectacle with live coverage. Judge Sherry Stephens ruled that cameras were not allowed in court during the second trial, covering the sentencing phase, except for the reading of the verdict.
It is unclear whether or not Arias will speak during Monday’s hearing in Maricopa County Court.
