(NEW YORK) — The National Transportation Safety Board issued an update on Friday regarding the Delta Air Lines flight that slid off the runway at New York’s LaGuardia International Airport on Thursday.
The agency said that its investigators had begun their investigation, with one investigator arriving on scene “shortly after the accident occurred” to secure the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice record from the plane. Both recorders had been sent to Washington D.C. and were in the process of being downloaded and auditioned on Friday.
The plane itself, meanwhile, has been moved to a hangar where it can be examined and documented in further detail.
Beginning on Saturday, the NTSB interviewed the crew and reviewed maintenance record for the aircraft in question. The investigation, the agency says, is ongoing.
