(HOUSTON) — An investigation is underway in Houston after a suspicious fire at the Quba Islamic Institute early Friday morning.
FBI Special Agent Patricia Villafranca told ABC News on Friday that the FBI is monitoring the fire and awaiting a report from the Houston Fire Department’s Arson Squad. ABC affiliate KTRK reports that an assistant imam at the institute claims to have seen a suspicious man with a mask lurking near the center in the last week. On Thursday night, he said, an individual drove past the center screaming mocking chants.
The fire department was called at about 5:40 a.m. Friday local time.
No further information about the fire was released publicly by the HFD.
