(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — The trial involving a pair of former Vanderbilt University football players accused of rape will begin on Monday.
Brandon Vandenburg and Cory Batey, along with two other players, are accused of raping an unconscious student in a dorm room at the school in June 2013. The two other players, Jaborian McKenzie and Brandon Banks, are expected to testify against their former teammates.
All four former players have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Vandenburg faces additional charges including tampering with evidence and unlawful photography.
Authorities began investigating after they came across “concerning behavior by the defendants” while checking the dorm’s surveillance camera recordings regarding an unrelated matter.
Jury selection in the case begins Monday with opening statements expected to begin on Tuesday. The trial is projected to take about two weeks.
