(CORCORAN, Calif.) — I now pronounce you Manson and wife.
Charles Manson, one of the most notorious mass murderers in U.S. history, is planning to marry 26-year-old Afton Elaine Burton.
Manson is serving a life-term at the federal pen in Corcoran, California. Although he did not take part in the killings himself, he was convicted of ordering his followers to commit the brutal murders of actress Sharon Tate and a number of other people in Southern California in 1969.
Burton, who goes by the name of “Star,” says she loves the 80-year-old Manson and believes he’ll be acquitted in a new trial. Manson is not eligible for parole until 2027.
The couple was issued a marriage license earlier in November and have 90 days to tie the knot, which would likely take place in the inmate visiting room. Conjugal visits, however, won’t be allowed.
