(PASCO COUNTY, Fla.) — A 14-year-old girl was arrested Thursday for allegedly purposely setting her family’s Florida home on fire.

Two people were inside the house in Pasco County, but were able escape.

The girl reportedly told authorities that she had a fight with her mother the night before and then was influenced while reading a violent book called, Soul Eater.

According to Pasco Sheriff Department Detective Daniel Toner, “There’s a part in this book where two characters get into a fight with each other. All of a sudden that clicks something in her mind and she decided she was going to kill her family.”

Toner says the girl “also expressed that she felt that even though she’d already done it, she would come back and do it again.”

The teen was charged with arson and attempted murder.
