(HONOLULU) — Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie signed an emergency proclamation on Wednesday in advance of two tropical storms that are approaching Hawaii.
Abercrombie’s proclamation covers the entirety of the state and activates the state’s Major Disaster Fund in case there is a need for relief funds. The governor’s action also makes emergency resources at state and federal levels more accessible.
“We want to make sure we are doing everything possible to protect the public,” Abercrombie said in a statement. “This proclamation improves the state’s ability to respond quickly to any potential impacts from both storms.”
Tropical Storm Iselle is expected to impact the state as soon as Thursday evening, with Tropical Storm Julio just a few days behind.
