(BARNSTABLE, Mass.) — The man who broke into the Kennedy compound on Cape Cod Tuesday said he was there looking for the singer Katy Perry, police said.
James Lacroix, 53, arrived at the property at 6:30 p.m., according to police in Barnstable, Massachusetts.
The home’s owner, identified by police as Edward “Ted” Kennedy Jr., son of the late senator, called to check on his teenage son. Lacroix answered the call and identified himself, police said.
Kennedy, worried about his son’s safety, called the police. Cops visiting the home found a black vehicle in the driveway and Lacroix in the kitchen, authorities said.
Lacroix was booked on breaking and entering charges and will be arraigned Wednesday.
The home is one of three houses in the Kennedy compound, which has served as a political base and vacation retreat for the family. The Kennedys have owned property in Hyannis Port since the 1920s.
