(NEW YORK) — A casino boat carrying 123 people is stranded on rocks near the coast of Georgia Wednesday.
The Escapade, with 96 passengers and 27 crew members, got stuck during low tide in South Carolina’s Calibogue Sound around midnight, the U.S. Coast Guard told ABC News. There are no reports of injuries.
Coast Guard crews say the vessel is stable off the South Carolina coast and nearly two miles from Tybee Island, Georgia.
Crews had to wait until high tide — around noon Wednesday — before the boat could take to water again. An attempt to move the boat at that time failed after the tow lines broke, according to Coast Guard Petty Officer First Class Lauren Jorgensen.
Jorgensen said the Coast Guard has dispatched small 25-foot boats to get the passengers off of the Escapade.
