(FENTON, Mo.) — Police are working to determine whether laws were broken after Ku Klux Klan fliers were apparently found in the yards of a number of residents.

The fliers appeared to be meant as a means of recruiting for a neighborhood watch, and read in part, “You can sleep tonight knowing the Klan is awake.” One resident told local news station KPLR-TV that the fliers made them feel “uneasy.”

“Someone came here in the middle of the night spewing hatred…they don’t even have the guts to do it during the day, to talk to anybody.”

The fliers also reportedly included a hotline number and a website for any residents interested in more information.

“I’d really like to know where it’s listed under the Yellow Pages,” a resident said to KPLR. “Under hate? That would be good.”
