(WASHINGTON) — Health insurance companies are claiming that most of the eight million Americans who signed up for the Affordable Care Act have indeed paid for their new policy to start.
Several insurance companies told Congress Wednesday that more than 80 percent of their new customers enrolled in Obamacare have already paid their premiums — a significantly higher percentage than critics had forecast.
In Wednesday’s testimony, the industry also noted that there are a lot of duplicate accounts, apparently from the time purchasers were having trouble with the enrollment website.
