(WASHINGTON) — The White House was locked down on Tuesday after a vehicle made it onto Pennsylvania Avenue, where it was not supposed to be.
Traffic and pedestrians were kept away and a federal government bomb squad truck was brought to the scene after a blue sedan was spotted near the northwestern gate. That gate is used by a majority of those entering the White House.
A Secret Service spokesman said that the car followed a White House motorcade through the gate and was immediately stopped by Secret Service. The driver is reportedly in custody.
Authorities approached the car and searched it before deeming the White House all clear on Tuesday afternoon. Parts of Pennsylvania Avenue remained locked down.
