(PROVIDENCE, R.I.) — Up to 20 people were injured Sunday after a platform collapsed at a Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus performance in Providence, Rhode Island.

Witness Sydney Bragg told ABC News Radio there were about 20 females on a rising platform which fell down to the ground at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. She first thought the incident was part of the act.

“I just remember just seeing these girls lean over and their necks were like down, almost like they snapped their necks,” Bragg said.

Stage crews then came out to take the platform off the victims. The lights were kept dark, Bragg added, so children could not see was going on.

Story is developing.
