(WILMINGTON, N.C.) — A middle school student in Wilmington, N.C. was killed on Friday in an accident during baseball practice.
The child, a student at Roland-Grise Middle School, was struck by a line drive while throwing batting practice. The accident was confirmed by a Laney High School baseball coach, ABC’s Wilmington affiliate WWAY reports.
The coach told WWAY that the victim was protected by a cage while throwing batting practice, but that his head was not covered at the time of the accident.
