(FORT HOOD, Texas) —  A shooting occurred Wednesday at Fort Hood in Texas, federal authorities told ABC News, and FBI and ATF agents are responding to the scene.

A defense official said there is an “active shooter” on the Army post and said there have been “some casualties.”

A Twitter account for the army base announced “shelter in place” has been ordered for all personnel. The post released a statement saying that “injuries” have been reported, but no further details were available.

President Obama has been informed of the shooting, a White House spokesperson said.

Fort Hood was the site of a mass shooting in 2009, when Maj. Nidal Hasan killed 13 people.
