(NORFOLK, Va.) — Two people were killed in a shooting incident at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia on Monday night.
The shooting happened around 11:20 p.m. on board the USS MAHAN, according to a statement posted by officials at the Naval Station on Facebook.
While officials didn’t go into detail about what exactly led to the shooting, they said a male sailor was shot and killed, and a male civilian suspect was then fatally shot by Naval security forces.
There were no other reports of injury.
The Naval base was reportedly placed on lockdown for about 45 minutes as a result of the shooting. However, officials said that operations have returned to normal throughout the base, except at Pier 1, which is where the shooting happened.
The incident remains under investigation.
