SANFORD–When Representative Robert Reives, II was sworn in at the historic courthouse in Chatham County, a standing room only crowd was on hand for the event. Many Lee County residents could not attend due to the noon event. Lee County residents turned out to congratulate the newest state representative during a reception at the historic Lee County Courthouse Thursday afternoon.. Representative Reives, and his father, Robert Reives, Sr. made local history Thursday when they filed jointly at the Board of Elections for state representative and county commissioner. Commissioner Reives is the longest sitting county commissioner in Lee County. It marked the first time a father and son had ever filed for office at the same time in Lee County.
