(NEW YORK) — Federal drug agents said Wednesday they have busted the biggest pill mill in the Northeast.

It was called “Astramed,” and federal prosecutors said the purported medical clinic in the Bronx borough of New York City was responsible for the illegal distribution of more than five million tablets of oxycodone.

Twenty-two people have been arrested, including doctors, traffickers and pretend patients recruited to fill tens of thousands of needless prescriptions.

Prosecutors said the clinic flooded the black market for highly-addictive painkillers with a street value of almost a half-billion dollars.
