(NEW YORK) — An increased police presence for Super Bowl-related activities in the New York City area didn’t stop jewel thieves in a brazen daytime jewelry heist Thursday.
Police say that around 12:30 p.m. five men in masks stormed into Cartier on Fifth Avenue, the flagship location of one of the world’s finest jewelers, smashed glass display cases with hammers, and grabbed 16 watches worth more than $700,000.
Police are still hunting for the five Cartier jewel bandits.
